Launching Ceremony prior to China groups setting out for Rio de Janeiro held in Beijing
On 7 June the China-Europa Forum, in collaboration with Tencent, originated the Launching Ceremony prior to China groups setting out for Rio de Janeiro in order to deepen the understanding of Chinese delegations, in particular Chinese civil society of Rio+20 and the voices of Chinese civil society on ecological civilisation. Representatives from the Chinese Government, NGOs, the business community and media outlets were invited to share their preparatory work, their events in Rio and views.
Marco Tulio S. CABRAL, Head of the Sustainable Development, Science & Technology Section, Embassy of Brazil in China, made an introductory statement and this was followed by two keynote speeches delivered by Ms JIANG Nanqing, UNEP Representative, and Mr YANG Fuqiang, Chief Representative, Beijing office, the Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC); NRDC’s senior advisor on energy, environment and climate change.
Other representatives were from Friends of Nature, Greenovation Hub, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Greenpeace, China Association for NGO Cooperation, Oxfam Hong Kong, Youthink Center, China Youth Climate Action Network (CYCAN), China Institute of Strategy & Management, Chinese Youth Sustainable Development Initiative for Rio+20, etc.
